- Pain relief for mod to severe pain

- Nausea and vomiting
- ALOC
- Respiratory depression
- Hypotension

What are the 4 contraindications of morphine?
A
- Respiratory depression (analgesia only)
- BP <70 pain relief
- BP <90 APO
- acute asthma attacks

What are the 8 precautions of morphine?
A
- Equal or under GCS 13 (pain relief only)
- KSAR
- Elderly
- Patients with CAL
- Hypovolaemic pts
- BP 70-90 (half doses should be given)
- Children <1
- Pain management in labour

What is the IV dose of morphine for pain relief?
A
Up to 50mcg/kg over 2 mins. May repeat every 5 mins until pain relief achieved. Max dose 20mg

If a patients BP drops 10mmHg systolic or more and their no was between 70-90, are you able to give more morphine?

When can you give IM morphine?
A
- Pain relief only
- Not for ischaemic chest pain
- No IV available
- No hypotension
- Pt contact over 20 mins

A
100mcg/kg

A
1-2mg IV Repeat once after 20mins if required
