Naloxone

Dosage

A

Adult:

  1. 4mg IV/IO/IM/SC. Repeat after 3min if indicated to Max 2mg.
  2. 8mg IN. Repeat x 1 after 3 mins prn

Paed:
0.01mg/Kg (10mcg/Kg) IV/IO/IM/SC.
0.02mg/kg (20mcg/kg) IN
Repeat dose prn to maintain opoid reversal to max 0.1mg/Kg or 2mg

Additional Info

A

Use with caution in pregnancy
Administer with caution to patients who have taken large dose of narcotics or are physically dependent.
Rapid reversal will precipitate acute withdrawal syndrome.
Prepare to deal with aggressive patients
