Indications

A

1: When Amiodarone is unavailable it may be substituted with Lidocaine for VF/pVT arrests - (special authorisation required)
2: Solvent for Ceftriaxone IM
3: Pain Management

No contraindications for cardiac arrest
KSAR when used as a dilutant for Ceftriaxone

Dosage

A

Adult:
1: 100mg IV
2: Solvent 3.5ml for CeftriaxoneIM
3: Lidocaine 1%, 40mg IO over 2 mins, wait 1 min, 2nd dose Lidocaine 1% 20 mg IO over 1 min. (supplementary dose of 1% 20mg x 1 no sooner than 45 mins)

Paed:
1: 1 - 1.5mg/Kg IV (Max 3mg/Kg)
2: Solvent 3.5ml for Ceftriaxone IM
3: 1% 500mcg/kg (max 40mg) IO over 2 mins. Wait 1 min, 2nd dose 250mcg/kg IO over 1 min. Total Max 60 mg
