Indications
Life Threatening Asthma
Torsades de pointes
Persistent Bronchospasm
Seizure associated with eclampsia

Contraindications
None in cardiac arrest

Dosage
Adult:
Life Threatening Asthma: 2g IV in 100ml NaCL Infusion over 20 mins
Torsades (with pulse): 2g IV in 100ml NaCl infusion over 15 minutes
Bronchospasm: 2g IV in 100ml NaCl infusion over 20 minutes
Seizure with Eclampsia: 4g IV in 100ml NaCl infusion over 15 mins
Paed: not indicated

Side Effects
Side Effects are Rare
Bradycardia (during infusion, give slowly)
Signs of Overdose include: Arrhythmias, Coma, Confusion, Drowsiness, Flushing of skin, Hypotension, Decreased deep tendon reflexes, Muscle Weakness, Nausea and Vomiting, Respiratory depression, Thirst

Additional Info
5g in 10ml is equivalent to 20mmol/mg
Compatible with Glucose 5% or NaCL 0.9%.
Must be diluted prior to IV administration. Max COncentration must not exceed 20% (200mg/ml).
Monitoring Requirements: BP, Respiratory Rate, Urinary output and signs of overdose
