Path process of Paget’s
Normal bones becomes fibrous/sclerotic
- High osteoclast activity
- Matrix replaced by fibrous tissue
- High Osteoblast activity
- Makes bone hardened, weak, abnormal structure
Osteomyelitis
Cause, Effect, what to do
Bone inflammation due to infection
Caused by staph aureus infection
Leads to necrosis of bone
Immediately refer to MD
Osteosarcoma vs Osteochondroma
Osteosarcoma: MALIGNANT bone tumor
Osteochondroma: BENIGN composed of bone and covered in cartilage
Osteosarcoma vs Osteochondroma
Osteosarcoma: MALIGNANT bone tumor
Osteochondroma: BENIGN composed of bone and covered in cartilage
Bone metastases
Secondary tumors from cancer elsewhere
Multiple myeloma
Distinguishing symptoms
Malignant tumor or bone marrow plasma cells
Causes multiple infections due to tumor’s effect on immune response cells
