Muscles of the forearm and wrist, hand Flashcards
What does the biceps brachii do?
Flex elbow, supinates forearm (feel it!)
Where do the 2 heads of the biceps brachii originate?
Long head to the supraglenoid tubercle thru the bicipital groove; short head to the coracoid process of the scapula
Where does the biceps brachii insert?
Inserts at radial tuberosity of radius
What does the brachialis do?
Flexes elbow
Where is the brachialis?
Humerus to coronoid process of the ulna
What does the brachioradialis do?
Flexes elbow
Where is the brachioradialis?
Humerus to styloid process of the radius
What does the triceps brachii do?
Extend elbow
Where is the triceps brachii?
Origin of the long head is the infraglenoid tubercle
What does the supinator do?
Supinates forearm and hand
What muscle is the antagonist of the supinator?
Pronator teres
What muscles come off the coracoid process?
Biceps brachii; Pectoralis minor; coracobrachialis
Which muscles extend the elbow?
Triceps brachii
Which muscles flex the elbow?
Biceps brachii, brachialis, brachioradialis
What are the two powerful wrist flexors?
flexor carpi radialis
flexor carpi ulnaris
