Muscles of the Anterior/Posterior Compartment of the Arm Flashcards
What nerve innervates all muscles in the anterior/flexor compartment?
musculocutaneous
What muscles does the anterior/flexor compartment contain?
biceps brachii, coracobrachialis, brachialis
What is the origin of the biceps brachii?
Short head: coracoid process of scapula
Long head: supraglenoid tubercle of the scapula
What is the insertion of the biceps brachii?
radial tuberoidity and bicipital aponeurosis
What are the functions of the biceps brachii?
- flex of the arm @ GHJ
- flex of forearm @ elbow joint
- supination of forearm @ radioulnar joints
What nerve innervates the biceps brachii?
musculocutaneous nerve
What is the origin of the coracobrachialis?
coracoid process of scapula
What is the insertion of the coracobrachialis
middle portion of the medial surface of the humerus
What are the functions of the coracobrachialis?
- flex of arm @ GHJ
2. add of arm @ GHJ
What nerve innervates the coracobrachialis?
musculocutaneous nerve
What is the origin of the brachialis?
distal half of the anterior surface of the humerus
What is the insertion of the brachialis?
ulnar tuberosity
coronoid process of ulna
What are the functions of the brachialis?
flex of forearm @ elbow joint
What nerve innervates the brachialis?
musculocutaneous nerve
What is the origin of the long head of the triceps brachii?
infraglenoid tubercle of scapula
