Which drug is contraindicated in glaucoma?
Atropine!!!
Uses for atropine?
Bradycardia and ophthalmic procedures
Effects of atropine?
1) Pupil dilation and cycloplegia
2) Decreases airway secretions
3) Decreases gastric acid secretion
4) Decreases gut motility
5) Decreases urgency in cystitis
What systems are NOT effected by atropine?

Use for benztropine?
Parkinson’s
Use for scopolamine?
Motion sickness
Uses for ipratropium?
COPD and asthma
Uses for oxybutynin?
Reduce urgency in mild cystitis and reduce bladder spasms, urge incontinence, overactive bladder
Uses for glycopyrrolate?
1) Parenteral: preop use to reduce airway secretions
2) Oral: drooling, peptic ulcers
What can atropine cause in 3 age groups?
1) Infants–hyperthermia
2) Men with BPH–urinary retention
3) Elderly–acute-angle glaucoma due to mydriasis
