MSK 16 - Upper Limb-II Flashcards
What are the muscle-joint rules of the upper limb?
In the upper arm, which nerves are typically responsible for flexion and extension?
Flexion - musculocutaneous nerve
Extension - radial
What are the muscles of the anterior compartment of the upper arm? What do they do and what innervates them?
What are the muscles of the posterior compartment of the upper arm? What do they do and what innervates them?
Point out the long, lateral, and medial heads of the triceps brachii
What are aponeuroses?
Layers of flat broad tendons
What is the cubital fossa? What is another name for it?
The triangular area on the anterior view of the elbow of a human or other hominid animal. It is also called the antecubital fossa because it lies anteriorly to the elbow (Latin cubitus) when in standard anatomical position.
What are the borders and contents of the cubital fossa?
Describe the paths of the veins of the cubital fossa and upper arm.
How many articulations and synovial cavities are present at the elbow joint? List the articulations?
Label the triceps, humerus, anterior humerus line, anterior fat pad, radius, capitulum, ulna, and radiocapitellar line.
What is the significance of the radiocapitellar line?
A line drawn down the neck of the radius should intersect the capitulum. If it does not, then something is dislocated
What is a subluxation?
A slight misalignment
What is a pulled elbow? What is another name for it? What population does it most commonly affect and how is it treated?
