What is carrying capacity?
the number of individuals of a given species that can be supported by a given region indefinitely, requiring sustainable use
What is sustainable use?
it is when the rate of use is less than or equal of replenishment
When is sustainable use surpassed?
when the rate of use is > the rate of replenishment
What is unsustainable use called?
K surpassed
What often causes unsustainability?
Human use
What amount of resources are on Earth?
A finite amount
How much more resources do we need on our current path?
We need 20% above what we have now (we are using 120% of Earths resources)
What is exponential growth?
It is rapid population growth that increases faster as time goes on. This can not occur indefinitely because you will eventually run out of resources
What is logistic growth?
rapid growth at first but then stabilizes at the carrying capacity
