What was the reign or terror? (1793-1794)
The committee of public safety headed by Maximilian Robespierre sent out about 40,000 people to the guillotine(method of killing people)
What were somethings that Napoleon did for France?
Set up voting rights, a system of education, fought battles with all of Europe and sold Louisiana territory to the U.S
What were napoleons mistakes
He set up ships around Europe to block England from trade and the blockade hurt France more than England. He also invaded Russia where it was too cold for them and the Russians lured them into their country while burning their own crops. (Hitler made the same mistake in WW2)
What is the congress of Vienna’s objective?
(September 1, 1814 - June 9, 1815) to prevent future France aggressions, restore balance of powers and return the European monarchs to their thrones
What was the concert of Europe?
All the European countries agreed to this and it is a alliance that if any revolution broke out in any country the other kings would send their troops to help fight the revolutionists

It was an event where the people of France overthrew their king, Louis XVI, and fought for more rights
What were some key causes of the French revolution?
French society was divided into three estates. The people of the third estate were mostly peasants and they were angry about the few rights and high taxes they had. France was ruled by an absolute monarch and the ideas of the enlightenment inspired the French people to overthrow their unfair kings. France was also in an economic crisis where the king spent too much and put France in debt
What was the Declaration of the rights of man?
This was a document written during the French revolution that gave equal rights to the men of France and created a fair system of taxation
Who were the Jacobins?
They were the radical (Extreme) group leading the reign of terror and Robespierre was their leader
What were some key effects of the French Revolution?
King Louis XVI of France was executed by Robespierre and the Jacobins. The middle class of France gained more power and rights
Who was Napoleon Bonaparte?
The ruler who came to power at the end of the French Revolution. He expanded French territory by conquering neighboring lands in Europe and he made the French people feel nationalism (pride in their country)
