How is movement more sustainable as exercise?
It results in being something that feels good, fun, pleasurable, and motivating.
How does movement help with balancing blood sugar?
It helps t balance blood sugar by increasing insulin sensitivity
Where is sugar found in the body?
In the blood stream as glucose, in the liver and muscles as glycogen, and in the fat cells for long-term storage.
How does movement help insulin?
Movement requires energy that creates a place for future glucose to go and this lessens the amount of insulin required to restore glucose to a healthy balance.
What’s a simple overview of movement and balancing blood sugar?
No movement-minimal energy expended-glycogen stores are not utilized and remain full-meal eaten-glucose levels increase with nowhere to go-higher level of insulin are released to balance blood sugar
With movement-moderate to high levels of energy expended-glycogen stores are depleted and space has been created for new glucose to go-meal eaten-glucose levels rise-lower levels of insulin are released
What is nice about using the concept of movement vs. exercising?
It can be different every day and completely up to the client to decide based on how they are feeling.
It is helpful to ask the client questions that will get them brainstorming what feels good to them, to their body, that they are curious about.
