What are the 3 levels of change?
Behavior, beliefs, identity
Where does a health coach begin with helping clients?
It begins with helping them with simple behaviors around food and lifestyle and is very effective at -building trust
-getting initial results
-settle the client’s critter brain so they can relax
-opens client up to more possibilities for themselves
How do stories play a role in habit change?
Stories are essentially beliefs from early programming that determine your identity, beliefs, decisions and actions.
Stories are the #1 determiners of your health and your metabolism.
What is the flow behind programming?
Programming - creates decisions - stabilizes beliefs - shapes identity - informs actions/behaviors - determines results
Where does the deepest transformation happen?
At the level of belief and identity
Who you are BEING = what your body is DOING
Where must transformation work begin?
At the level of BEHAVIOR or the critter brain will force the client to revolt, run and never return.
IMPORTANT
The more CHANGE someone needs, the less they can handle.
Big ISSUES require little CHANGES; LITTLE changes will take care of BIG issues.
Start SMALL, SIMPLY and PRACTICALLY with client to be more effective by meeting them where they are
What does it mean to have a relationship to your body, food & health?
It’s the stories you’re telling about each one of those based on how you are relating to it.
How does language play a role in habit change?
Language can change everything. It can uplift and empower; it can make you feel defeated. It can create a new belief either positive or negative.
We are unconscious or unaware of self talk that plays out when we are eating or about to eat regarding our weaknesses, imperfection, failures, guilt
What is important to understand and become aware of with language and the self talk that happens?
These stories or negative self talk turn on the stress response and the body creates stress chemistry which slows the metabolism and the body stores more fat.
We need to stop being at war with food and with our bodies
Changing beliefs will change the experience
What does reframing mean?
It means to change its meaning by putting it in a different setting, context, or frame.
When we change the meaning of something, we change our response and behavior to it.
What is the paradigm around reframing?
All behaviors have a positive intention and when we apply that to health and wellness, we can consider that all diseases, conditions, or behaviors are not our enemies, but our ALLIES
Positive intentions in disease, etc. perhaps then catalyze change to prioritize health, take better care, etc
What can be some reframing around weight loss?
Excess creativity waiting to be released
Blocked personal power looking for expression
Many people are trying to lose what they don’t own
What are some reframes around fatigue?
Why might you need fatigue at this time in your life?
Fatigue? Fantastic! You have a powerful doorway for transformation.
What is a reframe for digestive issues?
How are you digesting and absorbing life through your feeling of belonging, safety, and boundaries?
These are symptoms that indicate your behaviors are signs that something in your life is asking for a different strategy and it’s just gotten loud enough that you can’t ignore it any longer.
You accept ALL parts to start the healing process towards transformation vs elimination because you wouldn’t just cut it off or us punishment as action against yourself, but rather love that which is needing love.
