- Messages the brain are sending to the muscles get mixed up on the way
- The person knows what they want to say, but can’t get their mouth to do it

Cause of Apraxia
A
Caused by an injury or damage to
the areas in the brain that control
speech. These areas are located in
the dominant hemisphere, such as
Broca’s and supplementary motor
areas

Apraxia of Speech Hallmark Symptoms
A
- Inconsistent speech sound errors on consonants and vowels, in repeated productions of syllables and words.
- Disrupted and/or lengthened coarticulatory transitions between
sounds and syllables.
Impaired prosody (or rhythm of
speech)
