Progressive Supranuclear Palsy
Brain disorder that causes issues with walking, balance, swallowing and coordination
Cells deteriorate and die, leading to dementia and movement problems
Mysathenia Gravis
- Chronic autoimmune disorder when many of the receptor sites for acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, which prevents the muscle contraction from occurring
- Effects voluntary muscles that control eye, mouth and throat movements
- Patients with MG may experience Flaccid Dysarthria
Locked In Syndrome
Patient is completely immobile and cannot communicate. Language and cognition intact
Guillan Barre
Progressive autoimmune disease triggered by bacterial or viral infection
Weakness and tingling occurs in arms/legs
Muscular Dystrophy
Causes progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass which leads to muscle degeneration, swallowing and breathing difficulties
Ménière’s disease
chronic inner ear disorder that causes vertigo, tinnitus, hearing loss, and a feeling of fullness in the ear. It usually affects one ear at first, but can affect both over time. Symptoms:
Vertigo, or a severe spinning feeling that can last from minutes to hours
Dizziness
Tinnitus, or ringing in the ears
Hearing loss
Nausea and vomiting
Headache
Loss of balance
