What is motivation in the context of sport psychology?
Motivation can be defined as the direction and intensity of one’s efforts.
How can motivation be further understood in simple terms?
In other words, motivation is how much you want something.

The three main parts of the motivation continuum are amotivation, extrinsic motivation, and intrinsic motivation.
What is amotivation?
Amotivation is a complete lack of motivation.
What is extrinsic motivation?
Extrinsic motivation is being motivated by external factors, such as rewards, punishments, or outcomes.
What is intrinsic motivation?
Intrinsic motivation is being motivated by the inherent interest or enjoyment of participating.
What are the two key principles of motivation?
“You’re more likely to engage in behaviors for which you feel intrinsically motivated.”
