-not designed for deceased animals, not standing
BCS Purina
Dogs-thin and thick, common, 1-9, 4-5 ideal
Cats-thin and thick, common, 1-9, 5 ideal
BCS Tufts
Dogs-thin only, out of 5, 1 ideal (HIGHER=SKINNIER), used with further assessment to establish overall neglect score
Other assessments-weather conditions, environmental conditions, physical care added to BCS for overall assessment
Muscle Condition Scoring
Cats and dogs-no numbers, rankings; better measurement of muscle loss in face of normal/excess fat, more common in clinical practice than forensics
