Stab wounds
Deeper than wide
Depth may not = length of blade: blade not inserted all the way, fully inserted
Length of skin. Wound may not equal width of blade
Width of wound likely doesn’t = thickness of blade
Small stab wound compared to internal damage-little outward bleeding, lots of internal bleeding
Gently appose wound margins w fingers to assess actual length/width
Incised wounds
Longer than deeo
Relatively large skin wound-more outward bleeding
Tool dull, skin not clean/well-defined
Size gives no info about tool
Chop wounds
SFT and BFT
More unwieldy weapons-axes and machetes, propellers
Sharp edges to wounds w bony trauma
If dull, more BFT w abraded edges
Weapon can cause different injuries depending on use
