What is quantitative data?
Data is represented numerically, including anything that can be counted, measured, or given a numerical value.
What is qualitative data?
Data representing information and concepts that are not represented by numbers
What are the advantages of quantitative data?
-Easy to compare and analyse trends
-Cause and effect relationships between key variables can be identified
-Representative findings, broad sample
-, Reliable, Systematic procedure
-Cheaper
What are the disadvantages of quantitative data?
-No focus on the individual
-Respondents Cantt always explain what they mean/ closed questions

What are the advantages of qualitative data?
-Feelings can be explored in-depth- meanings/ insight can be gained
-More personal- can gain insight into people’s lives
What are the disadvantages of qualitative data?
-Researcher bias- The Researcher can become too involved
-Unreliable- usually based on unique situations that can’t be repeated
-Time consuming
-Unrepresentative- cannot generalise
-Subjective- the researcher may make mistakes when observing
