Indication: DM2
SEL GI (diarrhea, indigestion, N/V), lactic acidosis
monitor: SCr, eGFR
Clinical Pearls:
-Take w/ meals (ER tabs w/ evening meal)
-Can cause upset stomach + diarrhea (take w/ food)
- If hypoglycemia occurs (hunger, dizziness, irritable, confusion, anxious, dizzy) frink orange juice, or eat hard candy
-Combine with proper diet + exercise to control blood sugar
-Doc may recommend to take vitamin B12
CI: SCr>1.4, (F), 1.5 (M), IV dye
Precaution: >80 YO, HF, liver disease
