Indication: ACS
Monitor: CYP2C19 genotype (determines therapeutic treatment), reduction in CV thrombotic events indicates efficacy
Clinical Pearls:
-Take with or without food
- Report signs/symptoms of bleeding
- Avoid OTC meds that may increase bleeding (aspirin, NSAID)
-Avoid meds that decrease effectiveness (omeprazole, prilosec) unless approved by physician
-Call doc or get medical assistance if bleeding doesn’t stop
-Store at room temp + away from moisture and heat
BBW: CYP2C19 PMs - higher cardiovascular event rater at recommended doses vs. Normal metabolizers
