Indication: Depression
SE: QT prolongation, suicidal thoughts, serotonin syndrome
Monitor: ECG
Clinical Pearls:
-Don’t take if used a MAOI (isocarboxazid, linezolid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, or tranylcypromine) w/in the last 14 days (fatal reaction)
-May take weeks (~4) for effect
Avoid/minimize alcohol
-May have decrease in sexual function
-may cause dizziness/drowsiness
-Stopping the med may result in agitation, confusion, tingling, electric shock feeling
-Store at room temp + away from moisture
-MAX DOSE 40mg and 20 mg in pts > 60
BBW: increased risk of suicidal thinking + behavior in children, adolescents, young adults
- concomitant use w/ MAOI, linezolid or IV methylene blue, or use w/in 14 days
