What are each of the Beatitudes about?
Understanding that you care for God and others
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
- You keep on fighting (persevering) the uneasy feeling because you care
- Consider being poor in spirit pure joy which leads to hope
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
- True mourning allows more knowledge to be comforted and how to comfort
- Ask God to give assistance
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
- Cares about God and others (meek does not equal weak)
- Meek attitude: what can I do for God today?
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
- Daily attitude because you don’t want people to be hurt
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
- You understand the knowledge to not let others wallow in their feelings or burdens
- Forgiveness
- Don’t hold grudges against people, but encourage them forward
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
- Having pure intentions (why you’re doing what you’re doing)
- to God: open to understand
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
- Creating unity, win-win
- Truly understanding the Fabric of Society and that everyone has value
- Don’t be in conflict with the moment itself
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
- Persevering and holding steadfast to God
- Never wishing ill will unto others
Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
- Similar to Galatians 5:3-23, you are set free from the consequences of sin and gain the Fruit of the Spirit
