A
The Master must report any marine casualty or marine incident.

What is a marine casualty?
A
An event or sequence of events which result in
- Death of or serious injury to a person
- Loss of a person from a ship
- Loss, presumed loss or abandonment of a ship
- Material damage affecting the structural integrity, performance, operational characteristics or infrastructure of the ship.
- The ship was unfit to proceed to sea or requires flag state approval or condition of class to proceed.
- Breakdown of the ship requiring towage
- Stranding, disabling or collision
- Pollution
- Material damage to marine infrastructure

What is a marine incident?
A
An event or series of events which do not result in a casualty but had the potential to or if left unchanged have the potential to including
- a close quarters situation requiring urgent action
- Any event with potential to cause serious injury
- a fire with no material damage
- Unintended temporary grounding on soft mud
- MOB with no serious injury

A
- Call the reporting helpline
- Complete an online form (ARF Form)
-Save the VDR data as evidence
