Certain nationalities who have a CoC issued by an administration which the MCA regards as having equivalent standards.
A FSE is required to work on a UK flag ship

Can a non UK seafarer work on a UK ship without a FSE?

Answer 2

Companies can request a CRA (Confirmation receipt of application) when a FSE application is made.
The seafarer can then sail on a UK flag vessel for no longer than 3 months while the application is processed

2. Class 1 passenger ship over 500Gt and certified to carry more than 300 passengers
3. RoRo’s
4. Product tankers

What nationality does the Master of a strategic vessel have to be?

UK or commonwealth citizen
NATO or EU National

Question 5

Can a rating with a watch rating certificate from a different country join a UK flag ship?

Answer 5

Yes, as long as that watch rating certificate is issued by a country which is party to the STCW
