1. Ships designed to carry more than 2000 tonnes of oil as cargo must have CLC insurance and a certificate from the state.
2. All ships over 1000grt must have insurance to cover bunker oil pollution and a certificate from the state.

Civil Liability Convention. IMO convention to ensure sea going ships carrying oil are financially able to cover their liability for any damage resulting from an oil spill from their ship.
