What Insurance do shipowners need against pollution damage?
A
- Ships designed to carry more than 2000 tonnes of oil as cargo must have CLC insurance and a certificate from the state.
- All ships over 1000grt must have insurance to cover bunker oil pollution and a certificate from the state.

What is the CLC?
A
Civil Liability Convention. IMO convention to ensure sea going ships carrying oil are financially able to cover their liability for any damage resulting from an oil spill from their ship.
