Oropharyngeal Tube.
- tube that is placed inside of the mouth
Nasopharyngeal Tube
—tube that is placed inside of nose.
Laryngospasm
- vocal cords spasms. This can make speaking and breathing difficult.
Tracheostomy
- surgical procedure that opens up the trachea, this allows for easier breathing to happen because air can finally get into lungs.
Cuffed trach
- this is a ventilation tube that inflates on the tracheal wall. This allows air to get into the lungs and not back up through the neck
Obturator
—anything that can block an opening from opening up
Yankauer
- This allows for the suctioning of mucus inside of the mouth. The suctioning of the mucus can clear airways that help in breathing
Inner cannula
-Tube that goes inside of the trachea tube. This allows for easy removal of the tube that means easier cleaning which leads to healthier patients
Trach ties/trach holder-
go around neck and hold tracheal tubes together
Passey-Muir valve-
This valve goes into trachea of patient-This opens when the patient is inhaling, and closes when the patient is no longer inhaling
Sterile suctioning
- removes the mucus from body that patient could not remove on their own, but in a sterile technique. This technique goes into the lungs.
Semi-Fowlers position
- bed ridden patient that has a 30-degree angle on the head of the bed.
Lateral position
- patient laying on side with pillows to help comfortability
Intermittent suction
-This helps to remove the mucus form trachea that you could not get out from coughing. This is used when patients cannot get the mucus out of system
