refers to the disruption in the integrated functions of consciousness, memory, identity or environmental perception

The existence of two or more distinct identities (or “personality states”)
dissociative identity disorder
The main symptom is difficulty remembering important information about oneself
dissociative amnesia

Therapies such as art or movement therapy have been shown to help people connect with parts of their mind that they have shut off to cope with trauma
