can be done at 5 months but best at 7-9 months

Normal range: beats/min
Normal range: 120 – 160 beats/min
Instruments used:
Stethoscope, fetoscope, Doppler, Electronic fetal monitor
Should not be taken during
uterine contraction
Fundal grip – find out what is occupying the uterus
Fetal presentation
1st Maneuver (Upper pole)
Umbilical grip
Fetal back
2nd Maneuver (sides of maternal abdomen)
Paulick grip
Assess for fetal engagement
Floating or engaged
Primi: 2 weeks before labor

Schedule of Prenatal Visits (low-risk pregnancy)
■ Monthly until 28 weeks’ gestation
■ Biweekly from 28 weeks until 36 weeks
■ Weekly from 36 weeks until delivery
