Lifts head moments then drops it again.
Can lift head & turn to sides.
Has gross head lag when placed in sitting position.
Has stepping reflex when placed in standing.
1 MONTH
Can raised head & maintain position.
Can hold head fairly but tend to bob forward.
2 MONTHS
Lifts head & keep head well above the plane of the rest of body.
Lifts head & shoulders well of the table & looks around when prone.
Has slight head lag when pulled to a sitting position.
Try to support part of their cot., stepping reflex-begin to fade.
3 MONTHS
Develops “Landau reflex” – when in ventral suspension, the legs, head & spine extend.
Can lift chest off the bed & turns head from side to side.
No longer demonstrate head.
4 MONTHS
Hips, knee, elbows, flex present during first 6 months of life.
Can straighten back when propped in sitting position.
Has the ability to sustain his weight. Tonic & Moro reflex is fading.
5 MONTHS
Demonstrates a “parachute position”
Can rest their weight on their hands with extended with extended arms.
Can have limited ability to sit independently.
6 Months
Sits alone but only when hands are held.
7 MONTHS
Sits steadily without additional support.
8 MONTHS
Can creep from prone position.
Sits steadily and lean forward & regain their balance.
Can stand holding into furniture.
9 MONTHS
Can pull self to standing position.
10 MONTHS
Can cruise & move about crib rails.
11 MONTHS
Stands alone & walk solo.
12 MONTHS
