Lecture 6 - Muscles Flashcards
What is the origin of the brachioradialis?
lateral supracondylar crest of humerus
What is the insertion of the brachioradialis?
distal 1/4 of the radius
What is the nerve of the brachioradialis?
radial n.
What is the action of the brachioradialis?
supinator of forearm and flexor of the elbow
What is the origin of the extensor carpi radialis?
lateral epicondyle of humerus
What is the insertion of the extensor carpi radialis?
small tuberosities on the dorsal surfaces of the base of the metacarpals II and II
What is the nerve of the extensor carpi radialis?
Radial n.
What is the action of the extensor carpi radialis?
extend the carpal joints
What is the origin of the extensor digitorum communis?
lateral epicondyle of humerus
What is the insertion of the extensor digitorum communis?
extensor processes of distal phalanges of digits II - IV
What is the nerve of the extensor digitorum communis?
Radial n.
What is the action of the extensor digitorum communis?
extend the joints of four principal digits and the carpus
What is the origin of the extensor digitorum lateralis?
lateral epicondyle crest of humerus
What is the insertion of the extensor digitorum lateralis?
proximal ends of all phalanges of digits III-V, but mainly the extensor processes of the distal phalanges of these digits
What is the nerve of the extensor digitorum lateralis?
Radial n.
What is the action of the extensor digitorum lateralis?
Extend carpus and joints of digits III-V
What is the origin of the ulnaris lateralis?
lateral epicondyle of the humerus
What is the insertion of the ulnaris lateralis?
lateral aspect of the proximal end of metacarpal V and accessory carpal bone
What is the nerve of the ulnaris lateralis?
Radial n.
What is the action of the ulnaris lateralis?
Abduct the manus, flex carpal joint, support carpus when extended to support weight
