Lecture #43 - Male repro 1 Flashcards
What three things is the pelvis made of?
-
What are the two joints of the pelvis? What type?
What are the three main bones?
-
- Pelvic inlet is _____
- Pelvic outlet is ______ by ______ = pelvic floor
- Which one is bigger? Same case in both genders?
-
- What are the two subdivisions of the pelvis?
False pelvis:
- superior or inferior?
- Above what?
- Contains what organs?
True pelvis:
- superior or inferior
- between what?
- contains what organs?
-
How can you tell the difference between male and female pelvis (3)?
-
Pelvic floor:
- Closes over what?
- How many muscles and what are their names?
- How many openings in each sex? (this is the ‘difference’ part)
-
- In colloquial terms, what is the perineum? (in yellow)
- Where is it? (region inferior to……and between…..)
- What two things are found here?
- What are the two triangular divisions?
- What is in each division? (generic)
- What three landmark points is this perineum drawn about?
- Specifically for the male perineum, what three things are in the urogenital triangle?
-
- What is the male reproductive tract?
2. What 5 things does it include?
-
Scrotum - where is it and why it is there and is it external genitalia?
- What does it contain?
- What is spermatic chord and what does it contain (4)?
- What is and where is the dartos muscle?
-
Testes:
- Produce what three things?
- Lie where?
- Surrounded by what? What does this allow?
-
Seminiferous tubules:
Testes have ____ containing ______ _____. Tubules join to form _____ _____. That joins to form ____ leading to the ____.
-
Cells of the somniferous tubules:
- What are the three and where are they and what do they produce?
- Slide 21 - label the diagram
-
Epididymis:
- What three parts?
- Where do sperm enter and where do they exit?
- Where does the vas deferens arise from?
- What actually happens here?
–
Ductus deferens:
- What is it in?
- Covered by what? (in walls) - what does this help to do?
- Where does it run in relation to the bladder?
- Dilates to form what? What is the purpose of this?
- In the spermatic chord, what muscle is present and why?
- From wiki: During ejaculation, the smooth muscle in the walls of the vas deferens contracts reflexively, thus propelling the sperm forward. This is also known as peristalsis. The sperm is transferred from the vas deferens into the urethra, collecting secretions from the male accessory sex glands such as the seminal vesicles, prostate gland and the bulbourethral glands, which form the bulk of semen.
Spermatic chord:
1. How many?
2. Runs between what two things?
3. What 4 things does it contain?
4. Through what canal does it enter the body?
5 What plexus is in the spermatic chord and why?
