Lecture 2 - Anatomy of the Heart Part 1 Flashcards
1
Q
What’s the blood vascular system and what’s the lymphatic (vascular) system?
A
- Closed supply and drainage system - a continuous loop
2. A open-entry drainage system - one way system
2
Q
Supply side:
- What is the only supply path?
- Where is it situated?
- How many paths to important organs? How about to the brain?
- How often do they change their name?
A
-
3
Q
Exchange network:
- What is the vessel?
- How many types of vessels?
A
-
4
Q
Drainage:
- What three things drain?
- What can you say about the cross sectional area of veins?
A
-
5
Q
Just tell me about the rotation of the heart
A
-
6
Q
Where do these receive their blood from:
- The right atrium (3)
- Left atrium
A
-
7
Q
Whereabouts is the coronary sinus?
A
-
8
Q
Layers of heart wall (3) and the one extra layer
A
-
9
Q
- Where does the heart start?
2. Where is the PMI (point of maximal impluse)
A
-
10
Q
What are the 4 things in the the endocardium contains?
A
- Squamous epithelium (endothelium) - line entire CV system (non-stick layer) so stop blood coagulation - lines veins, arterioles, chambers and lymph channels. Basically a flat and single layer of thin endothelial cells
- Loose irregular FCT (stimulates blood to coagulate)
- Blood vessels (small)
- Purkinje fibres
11
Q
What are the 4 things in the epicardium?
A
- Visceral serous pericardium
- Blood vessels (large)
- Loose irregular FCT
- Adipose tissue
12
Q
What does 3 or 4 things are in the pericardium?
A
- Fibrous pericardium
- Parietal layer of serous pericardium (serous membrane forms closed spaces
e. g. interior of balloon - space inside and that balloon around heart but single and continuous layer). These serous cells produce little bit of a lubricant but not huge amount - just allows the heart to beat in a lubricated manner. - Pericardial cavity (with pericardial fluid/serous fluid)
- Visceral serous membrane
