What are paranasal sinuses?
A
• Progressively expand into like named skull bones. Pneumatisation- meaning that the bone has been hollowed out • Thin, poorly vascular mucosa. Poor drainage predisposes to infection • Small obscure entry = high CO2 and virtually sterile

What are the main functions of paranasal sinuses?
A
- Enlarge skull - Crumple protection - Provides thermal protection for the skull - Allows for a relatively larger skull without the burdening of increased weight -Provide resonance for vocalisation
