Q

The visible components that will occur in rumination

A
  1. Inspiration against a closed glottis- the oesophagus will visibly contract
  2. Food is sucked into the mouth and will move upwards via a process of anti-peristalsis, we will be able to see the bolus moving up
  3. The goat then pushes the bolus up against the top of the mouth and the liquid will be re-digested
  4. Goat will be chewing the food and adding saliva, the bolus will then be re-digested we will be able to see it travelling down the oesophagus (oesophagus is positioned on the left side, the animal will lift it’s head)
