What are vascular tissues of the penis?
Enlarges by retaining blood in the erectile tissue
- stallions, humans, dogs
What is fibroelastic tissue of the penis?
Straightening of sigmoid flexure by relaxation of retractor penis muscle
What is unilateral cryptorchidism?
One testis fails to descend, may still be fertile
What is Bilateral cryptorchidism?
Both testes fail to descend, likely sterile
What is Castration?
Process of removing the testes
Prevent inferior genetics from passing.
Removes source of testosterone
What is sterility?
Reduction or absence of fertility
What is the difference of the avian testes?
Located within the abdomen
What is the difference of the avian epididymis
Small compared to mammals, less sperm storage
What is the difference of the avian ductus deferens?
Leads from testicles to cloaca
Major storage site for sperm
What is the difference of the avian penis?
Rudimentary Phallus
- erectile in ducks and geese
What is the difference of the avian accessory sex glands?
Nonexistent in avians
- seminal fluid produced by the testes
- papillae in the cloacal wall deliver sperm during mating
How is Sperm delivered in the avian species?
