Situational leadership theory
-The relationship between the leader and the employees is based on values of trust
-A different leadership style would be adopted by the leader, based on the prevailing circumstances at a particular time
-Effective leaders may adopt the leadership style that will ensure that the goals of the organisation are achieved
Transformational
-Leaders lead by example and workers respond by focusing their outputs
-Workers take greater ownership of their responsibilities and are aware of their limitations and strengths
-Employees in return respect the leader and trust the leaders’ judgment regarding the planned changes within the organization
Leaders and followers
-Followers take responsibility for targets not reached
-Leaders lead by example and provide incentives for positional behaviors
-The creativity of some followers is stifled as they simply follow the leader and other followers
-Leaders allow followers to create and encourage them, to explore their alternative methods to increase productivity
The role of personal attitude in successful leadership
-Positive attitude releases leadership potential
-A leader’s good or bad attitude can influence the success or failure of the business
-Leaders’ attitude may influence employees’ behaviour
-Enthusiasm produces confidence in a leader
