Lab 2 Flashcards
What does the internal carotid artery supply?
anterior circulation of forebrain: cerebrum, choroid plexus, thalamus
what does internal carotid artery give rise to?
ACA and MCA
What does the Posterior inferior cerebellar arteries supply?
medulla and cerebellum
What does the anterior inferior cerebellar arteries supply?
pons and cerebellum
What does the posterior cerebral artery supply?
midbrain, thalamus, occipital lobe, temporal lobe, bottom part of pre and post central gyrus, choroid plexus
What does the middle cerebral artery supply
temporal lobe, parietal lobe, internal capsule, caudate nucleus, pre and post central gyrus, insula
what does the anterior cerebral artery supply?
frontal and parietal lobe, corpus callosum, cinguate gyrus, visual pathway, pre and post central gyrus
what does the vertebral artery supply?
occipital, inferior temporal lobes, brain stem, cerebellar region and SC
what does the basilar artery supply?
posterior circulation of brain. pons, medulla, cerebellum
What does anterior communicating artery supply?
medial regions of frontal lobe and parietal lobe
what does posterior communicating artery supply?
internal capsule, mammillary bodies, optic chiasm, 3rd ventricle
what does pontine branches supply?
pons
what does posterior spinal arteries supply?
supply posterior 1/3 SC and medulla
What happens if ACA gets blocked?
hemiplegia/ hemisensory loss in contralateral LE and personality changes
What happens if MCA gets blocked?
hemiplegia/hemisensory loss in contralateral UE, trunk, face.
aphagia
difficulty understanding spatial relationships, hemi neglect, nonverbal communication
What happens if blocked PCA?
declarative memory, pain, contralateral hemiparesis/hemisensory loss, eye movements, cortical blindness
What happens if vertebral artery gets blocked?
head and neck pain, oculomotor abnormalities, death, abnormal levels of consciousness, ataxia, weakness, numbness, dizziness, H/A, vomiting
what if anterior spinal artery gets blocked?
paralysis, quadriplegia=bilateral, autonomic dysfunction, loss of pain, temperature
what if basilar artery gets blocked?
death, tetraplegia, numbness, loss of consciousness, cranial nerve damage, locked in syndrome
