KSQR- Execution Part 2 Flashcards

1
Q

What is the max rate that can be pumped through the following hoses?

4” discharge

5” discharge

A

4” discharge = 10 BPM

5” discharge = 15 BPM (5” hose with 4” ends)

Q

What is the max rate that can be pumped through the following hoses?

The following 3 are for blenders with a separate suction pump (S&S, E-231)

4” suction

5” suction

8” suction

A

4” suction = 8 BPM

5” suction = 12 BPM (5” hose with 4” ends)

8” suction = 35 BPM

Q

On the low pressure side of the equipment, when are camlocks acceptable?

A

Answer: We can only use camlocks or other quick connects on air compressor lines or as an adaptor over to 3rd party equipment.

Q

What is a way (name one) to verify a downstream densitometer during the job?

A
  1. Verify with backups (POD Densitometers)
  2. Perform a manual calculation using a mass balance (using the POD gate position)

Q

Name a few things required on your mass balance sheet.

A
  1. Inventories of chemicals at start
  2. Record the fluid levels of water (treating) prior to starting
  3. Various stages and their design amounts
  4. Amount of proppants and types used

Q

What is the maximum allowable variance of post-job material quantities that does not require an investigation before the next job?

A

Answer: The KSQR gives a result of 10%, however the FE should note that any deviation as the significance of the variation is different depending on the job amount. Example is we can be off by 1 million pounds of sand but still be within tolerance if we are pumping 10 million pounds total for a job, however it is still unacceptable to be off by 1 million pounds.

Q

At what point during the job must additives, fluid levels and other measurements be recorded during the job on the mass balance?

A

Answer: Typically this is done after each stage, however it should be done more often if needed (say a stage is very long and you could be off and not know it)

Q

Why do we need to conduct physical straps of chemicals during the job?

A

Answer: This should be an example of the fact that if we rely on computer and machines (calculated volumes based on tachs or rates) we could be considerably off due to fluctuations.

Q

Why is it necessary to calibrate and equipment prior to starting? What is a “bucket test”?

A

Answer: To ensure we don’t have issues with our equipment and to re-zero equipment if necessary. Again refers back to making sure your equipment is in working order. The bucket test is a way to measure the flow rate accuracy of a PCM or POD pumper using a 5 gallon bucket or with a sight glass.
