You are about to start a “sim-ops” job on a frac location which is a large pad well with a drilling rig, wireline and frac equipment on the same pad. This is going to be a high-rate/high pressure job and is expected to possibly screen-out. Who needs to be present at the pre job meeting?

A

o SLB crew

o Wireline crew

o Company man (both frac and drilling operations)

o Flowback personnel if any are on location

o Any one else who may potentially be on location while pumping

Q

Give examples of some contingency plans that might be implemented during a stimulation/frac job.

A

o Discuss emergency escape routes and muster points

o If we are pumping an energized fluid, has everyone picked an escape route as they will not be able to see if the cloud of N2 or C02 is flowing out?

o If we have to shut down a pump because something goes wrong, do we have someone who is able to isolate it and open another if one is available?

o In case an emergency shutdown is required, who is responsible for closing the wellhead?

o If someone is injured, what are the first steps you will take and do you know who to call?

o What happens if we screenout early and the emergency shutdown devices fail to operate?

o What happens if the computers shut down during the job?
