Kidneys anatomy Flashcards
1
Q
How to kidneys get blood?
A
- Kidneys have a constant supply of blood
- The blood enters the kidneys via the renal artery and exits the kidneys via the renal veins
2
Q
How is urine from the kidneys urinated?
A
- Urine produced in the kidney travels down the ureters and is storred in the bladder until it is urinated via the urethra
3
Q
How do kidneys produce urine and filter blood?
A
- Kidneys contain millions of structures known as nephrons
- In the nephrons, all small molecules diffuse from the glomerulus into the bowman’s capsule
- Further down the tubule, useful substances are reabsorbed into the blood. This includes almost all glucose and amino acids, some water and ions and no urea
- The fluid left in the tubule is known as urine
