Where and when is adrenaline produced?

  • Produced in the adrenal glands which sit right above the kidneys
  • Produced during the “fight or flight” response: when you get scared, stressed or need to exercise
  • Adrenaline prepares the body for activity

Where is thryoxine produced and what is it used for?

  • Produced in the thyroid glands (found in the neck)
  • Thyroxine has lots of roles in the body (growth and development) but is mainly in charge of increasing metabollic rate

How is thryoxine produced through the pituitary gland?

A
  • The pituitary gland produces TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone)
  • TSH stimulates the thyroid glands to produce thryoxine
  • Thyroxine inhibts the production of TSH
