DNA 2 - key terms Flashcards

1
Q

Q

What is an allele?

A
  • Different versions of the same gene
  • Gene = eye colour
  • Allele 1 = blue eyes
  • Allele 2 = brown eyes

Q

What is a dominant and recessive allele?

A
  • A dominant allele will always be expressed, no matter what the other allele is (homozygous or hetrozygous)
  • A recessive allele will only be expressed when both alleles are the same (homozygous)W
