Kidd (009) BLOOD GROUP SYSTEM Flashcards
Kidd antigens that are well-developed at birth; not very immunogenic; ENHANCED by ENZYMES
Jka and Jkb Kidd antigens
Kidd antigen that is present on any RBC positive for Jka or Jkb
Jk3 Kidd antigen
Kidd antibody commonly encountered; IgG, 37C/AHG reactive; shows dosage effect; difficulty to detect because it is weakly reacting and found in combination with other antibodies
Anti-Jka
NOTE:
*Notorius reputation in bloodbank
*Titer quickly declines in vivo
*Causes Delayed HTR (within 24 to 28 days after transfusion)
Jk gene is expressed in chromosome ____:
Jk gene - chromosome 18
Jk phenotype that makes RBCs resist lysis in 2M urea; common in Polynesians; also identified in Filipinos, Chinese, Japanese, Indonesians
Jk (a-b-) phenotype (null phenotype)
