Kell (006) BLOOD GROUP SYSTEM Flashcards
Kell antigen that has an incidence rate of 9%
K (Kell) antigen
Kell antigen that has an incidence rate of 99.8%
k (Cellano) antigen
Kp and Js antigens:
- Kpa - 2%
- Kpb - 99.9%
- Jsa - 0-20%
- Jsb - 80-100%
Note: antigens can be destroyed by;
- DTT
- AET
- 2-ME
- ZZAP
- EDTA-glycine acid
Most common after ABO/Rh antibodies; IgG, 37C/AHG reactive
Anti-K
Note: All Kell antibodies are IgG antibodies; they are all clinically significant
Kell antibody that is rarely encountered
Anti-k
Note: All Kell antibodies are IgG antibodies; they are all clinically significant
Kell antibody that is produced by Ko (null phenotype) individual.; recognizes all Kell antigen; can cause HTR, HDFN
Anti-Ku
Note: All Kell antibodies are IgG antibodies; they are all clinically significant
Kell gene:
KEL - expressed in chromosome 7
NOTE:
Kell Ag is rated second to D in immunogenecity
Arrangement of most immunogenic blood antigen:
- A, B, A1, AB (ABO antigens)
- Rh D
- K (Kell)
Weak espression of Kell Ags: k, Kpb, Jsb; X-linked inheritance; Associated conditions: muscular dystrophy, acanthocytosis, CGD
Mcleod phenotype
