kavitas peritoneum Flashcards
how would you define the greater sac?
a compartment that makes up the majority of the peritoneal cavity
how would you define the lesser sac?
you can define it as a smaller sac in the gastrohepatical region
how is the lesser and greater sac connected?
through the epiploic foramen
what is the lesser sac called?
it is also called the gastrohepatical sac or the omental bursa
what connects the greater and the lesser sac?
the epiploic/omental foramen
what structures are located around the epiploic foramen?
anterior: hepatoduodenal ligament, bile duct, hepatic artery proper, portal vein
posterior: inferior vena cava
superior: the caudate lobe of the liver
inferior: the duodenum
what is the ventriculoperitoneal shunt technique?
it is a technique used to relief obstructive hydrocephaly by putting a catheter into the ventricular cerebral system and then draining it into the peritoneal cavity
what is peritoneal dialysis?
a method of dialysis utilizing the semipermeability of the peritoneum as a membrane, fluid is first inserted into the cavity and as electrolyte and waste exchange occurs between the fluid and the blood, the fluid is drained.
how do you image a perforated bowel?
trace amounts of gas on the lower diaphragm
how do you compartmentalize the greater sac?
the supracolic and infracolic region connected by the right and left paracolic gutters
what are the ligaments associated with the lesser omentum?
the hepatogastric ligament (medial)
the hepatoduodenal ligament (lateral)
what is the policeman of the abdomen?
the greater omentum is able to move and wrap around sick organs to wall off inflammation
how many types of mesentries are there?
3 types, the mesentry, transverse mesocolon, sigmoid mesocolon
what is the mesentry?
it connects the jejunum and ileum to the posterior abdominal wall
what are the superior attachments of the mesentry?
the duodenojejunal junction
