Joshua Flashcards
Joshua 1:8 (NRSV)
“[8] This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful.”
So, when we meditate on the Word of God day and night that’s when we have success and prosperity in our lives. So, what I need to do is to speak and study the Word of God. If you just come and listen to the Word of God without taking down notes and being attentive, by the next day, the enemy has already stolen your peace. One way that he does this is by using your loved one to come at you with worldly things, and the moment you give in to those feelings, all that you have learnt from the teaching is wasted. The devil doesn’t want us to know the Truth or hear the Truth, and that’s why he bombards us with thoughts and words, and we mix the Word of God and all the worldly things together. We cannot live in two worlds and if so, we can never receive anything from the Lord.
Joshua 1:9 (NRSV)
“[9] I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Jesus commands us to be confident. Because when we are not confident, we are afraid. Jesus says, “Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for I the Lord your God, will be with you wherever you go.” God is everywhere and we need to speak His Word for it to become alive in us so that we are protected and He fights the battle for us. If you speak the wrong words then you are inviting more chaos and problems into your life. God said, “I will never forsake you.” The moment we confess His Word, it comes alive within us and He lifts us out of our worry and fear; it takes us into the spiritual realm. We are no longer in the physical realm. That’s why wherever you go, there is always peace and joy and He makes the crooked way straight for you. Jesus did everything for us. Sr. Samantha said that this is why wherever she goes she has no fear because she knows God is with her and everywhere she goes, God always gives her victory. When she gets up in the morning, she knows that by the end of the day, she has the victory.
Joshua 10:9 (NRSV)
“[9] So Joshua came upon them suddenly, having marched up all night from Gilgal.”
God says, “I have already given you the victory, so why are you pondering over the lies of the devil.” That is how the devil takes us to the wilderness, thinking about what I have done wrong and where I went wrong; my husband doesn’t love me, my husband is doing this and that. This is what the devil does, taking us round and round, so unless you change your words and mindset, your life will never change. If you keep thinking the same thoughts every single day, you will never see the glory of God until you change your mindset and captivate those negative thoughts. We must practise speaking the right words.
When you go to another country, you have to follow the rules and regulations of that country and abide by them. You need to learn the language. You cannot change the system. You cannot apply the law of your country in another country. You need to follow the instructions of the country that you are in.
To enter into His Kingdom, we too must change our mindset and speak what God wants us to speak when we are translated into the Kingdom of God. We need to speak God’s Word as we are here to please God and follow His instructions. We are not here to please everyone and the world. We need to have guts and be bold, when we walk with God we are fearless. When we try to please everybody, we are living in two worlds.
