James Flashcards
James 1:6-8 (NRSV)
“[6] But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind;
[7, 8] for the doubter, being double-minded and unstable in every way, must not expect to receive anything from the Lord.”
Our mind is double-minded, like a wave in the sea. It’s not resting, it’s always up and down. The moment I am in unbelief, doubt, or worry, I am not resting. But when I walk with God, it is a system of believing, not what I feel, not what I know, not what I see. We must follow the Word of God.
James 1:19 (NRSV)
“[19] You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger “
When people come and insult you, at that moment, you are not focused in a Godly way and then this person is talking all nonsense, but in your heart, you keep confessing, “I love Jesus,” repeatedly.
James 4-7 (NRSV)
“[7] Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
You must submit to God and resist the devil. You cannot rebuild, resist or bind the devil if you are still in unforgiveness. If you have jealousy or have anything negative inside of you that means you are still operating in his kingdom. If you are still listening to the devil you cannot rebuild. So, how do I do that?
