Iv 2 Flashcards
Isotonic solution
Concentration similar to plasma
Osmolality 250-375msos/ l
Eith osmotic pressure comstant in and out the fluid in compartment cells remains sithin the compartment no shift
Does not move in cells and remain im extracellular fluid distributed in intravascular and interstitial
Types of isotonic solution
0.9 % sodium chloride Harttmans Rimgers solution Destrose im water Lactated ringers solution
Lactated ringers solution
Most adaptive solution close related to plasma and blood serum
First line of defence for resuscitation and burns
Used to replace gi tract loses and fluid losses
Lactated ringer solution metabolism
Liver, convert lactate to bicarbonate
Not for people with metabolic acidosis and cant metabolise lactate
Not for people ph greater than 7.5
Ringers solution
Doesnt contain lactate, no contraindications related to lactate , however not an alkalising agent ( nor for metabolic acidosis)
Dextrose in wate (d5w) morning
Boty isotonic and hypotonic
hypotonic
increase liquid intracellular and interstital from intravascular.
fro intracellular deydration
types of hypotonic solution
- 45 % sodium chloride
- 33% sodium chloride
- 2% sodium chloride
- 5% dextrose in water
hypertonic solution
higher concentration solute. draws water out f intracellular fluid to increase extracellular fluid. (AKA volume expanders)
when dextrose is added to hypotonic and isotonic it can be hypertonic
types of colliod soltion
Albumin 5%
Albumin 6%
Dextran 10%
Hetastarch 6%
types of crystalloid fluid
sodium chloride
Ringers’ solution
Ringer’s lactate
Dextrose 5%
