When and where did the event of Isra and Miraj take place?
- Isra and Miraj occurred on 27 Rajab, in the 11th year of prophethood.
- The Prophet (pbuh) was sleeping in the house of Umm Hani, daughter of Abu Talib, when he woke up at midnight, went to the Kaabah, and slept at Hijr (Hateem).
What does the hadith say about the Prophet’s (pbuh) experience at Hateem?
- The Prophet (pbuh) said, “While I was lying in al-Hateem, suddenly someone came to me and cut my body open. Then he took out my heart.
- Then a gold tray full of beliefs was brought to me and my heart was washed and was filled and then returned to its original place.
- Then a white animal which was smaller than a mule and bigger than a donkey was brought to me (it was Burraq). I was carried on it and Jibrael set out with me.”

- The Prophet (pbuh) saw Prophet Adam, who had souls of his descendants on his right (inhabitants of Paradise) and on his left (inhabitants of Hell).
- Adam would smile when looking to his right and weep when looking to his left.
